R.I.P. Duly

This week my great Uncle Duly Morris passed away in Washington. I have been living here in Idaho for 10 years now and it has been bothering me that I have not been able to spend time with most of my family. I heard from another relative a few weeks ago that Duly was not doing to well and I told myself to make sure I visited him the next time I got to Washington. It is to late for that now. I do need to make sure this spring and summer I do make time to go to Washington and visit as many family members as I can. I am working on putting together a photo book of family members with photos that I take over the coarse of the year 2012 and get it printed to have a record of my family. I hope to be able to make this a yearly tradition from now on. We will see how that works out this year.

New era - Day 6

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was a horrible day. I was stressed out to the max all day. It was the worst day so far. I have never wanted a cigarette as bad as I did yesterday. Today I felt much better. I still want a smoke, but that urge was much easier to control today. We also went to downtown Caldwell tonight to see the Christmas light displays. If you are in the Caldwell Idaho area I suggest you take some time to check out the displays.

New era - Day 5

Today I think is going to be a long shitty day. My stress level is just about maxed out. I am wound tighter than a watch spring and feel like I am about to explode. Today I am really questioning my reasons for wanting to quit smoking. I am sticking to my guns and doing everything I can to not give in to the urges, but it is going to be hard today. This really sucks. I put on a fresh patch and have already had more lozenges than normal. If I can make it through this day hopefully tomorrow will be easier.

A new era - Day 4

Well I missed the eclipse last night. It was mostly cloudy here and I was not feeling well so I went to bed. I intended to get up and check to see if I could see anything, but I did not. Yesterday seemed to be the worst day so far for me. I was wound tight and had a very short temper. Everything the dogs did annoyed me more than it should have. I am feeling much better today. I went to the hardware store today and bought myself a couple of new motion sensor porch lights. I have wanted this type of porch light for a while now and decided today was a good day to get them. I installed them and will see how they work. The only bad part was that there was a woman smoking right outside the exit door. The smoke hit me as soon as I walked out the door and I wanted to grab the cigarette out of her hand and finish it. I didn't and walked quickly past her and out to my truck and headed on my way

New era - Day 3

I am flipping pissed off today. I am spending most of my time right now just trying to resist the urge to have a smoke. What has me so pissed off is that I let myself get to this point. I let the addiction to tobacco have control of my life and did not even realize just how much control it had until now. I have just one constant thought in my head and that is my brain telling me to have a smoke and i will feel better. The patches and lozenges are helping with the nicotine cravings, but not so much with the habit of smoking.
I will continue to resist these urges, because I am going to take back control of my life.
i know that the tobacco companies bump up the potency of cigarettes to make them more addictive to keep their customers buying their product even when the government uses that addiction to cash in by raising sales taxes on tobacco which makes quitting that much harder, but I am the one to blame for my addiction. No one made me start using tobacco. I made the choice so many years ago to start smoking and i must make the decision now to stop.

A new era day 2

I woke up at 4:30 this morning. The dogs wanted out so I got up. The snow was coming down in big flakes. I was afraid i would be seriously craving a smoke, but it was not that bad. I do want a cigarette, but I still do not need one. I am finding that I have to push the desire out of my head however. every time I start to do something part of me says lets have a smoke before we start that. I thought that by today the cravings would be stronger than they are. Thankfully they are still quite manageable.
The nicotine patch and lozenges are doing their job. The first couple of lozenges were awful. I did not like the taste of the Cherry flavored lozenges at all, but today i am starting to get used to the taste. I have a big supply of chewing gum as well as lots of chores around the house to keep me occupied so I think things will go well.

Beginning of a new era

I have struggled with Tobacco addiction for most of the last 30 years. I have quit using Tobacco many times in the past and have always eventually ended up back to it. Now that I have 3 grand children to keep up with it is apparent that i must get into much better shape. 2 months ago I quit chewing Tobacco. THe first week was rough, and I ended up smoking a lot more than I had been, but I was able to stick with it and no longer have a desire for chewing tobacco. Today I am giving up cigarettes. This is going to be hard to do, but I have 2 weeks off work for the holidays so I have less stress to deal with right now so that will help. I also stocked up on Nicotine patches and lozenges to help with the cravings. So far I am doing quite well and am not experiencing unbearable cravings. We will see how I fair over the next few days and weeks. This will not be easy, but I believe that this time I am really ready to quit. I hope I still feel that way next week.

Is this a wise use of time?

Today the Washington Liquor control board voted to ban alcoholic energy drinks in the State of Washington. Is this really all that anyone in the government of the State of Washington has to worry about? Because 9 students at Central Washington University over indulged in the alcoholic energy drinks and ended up spending a few hours in the hospital the Liquor control board in their infinite wisdom deemed these drinks unsafe and ban their sale in the state. I have to wonder why the Liquor control board does not ban the sale of all liquor in the state of Washington? There are far more than 9 people injured and killed by drunk drivers in the state every year. If drinks like FOUR LOCO are so dangerous that they must be banned to protect the residents of the state then why not ban all alcohol? I mean that worked so well in the 1920's when we had prohibition, why not go back to that? You can not legislate, or regulate stupid behavior. Those 9 students made a mistake by drinking too much, but to ban the drinks from the state will not solve anything. This is just another stupid waste of tax payer money so that Queen Gregoire and company can pat themselves on the back for doing something to make the state safer.

For the past 20 or so years I have been warning people that they have got to get involved with politics. They must pay attention to what our elected officials are doing and hold them accountable for their actions. These warnings have mostly fallen on deaf ears. Now we have the new Healthcare reform law. Everyone is all up in arms about this new law and how it will hurt our country. I say this law is perfectly designed for what it is really meant to do. This law is not about reforming our broken health care system. The current health care system was broken by government involvement in the first place, but that is not what this post is about. I have said repeatedly that our government has been pushing us towards the One World government and if we want to remain free Americans we have to put a stop to this push and move away from the One World Government. The two key changes to our system that must be made in order for the One World Government to be possible are, 1 We must bring the economy of the United States down to the level of the rest of the world. and 2 We must disarm the law abiding Patriotic Citizens of this country. This new Health Care reform law is perfectly designed to accomplish both of these goals. The un sustainable tax burden this law will put on our economy will cause it to fail and plunge us into a Depression that will make the Great Depression of the 1930's look like a walk in the park. The current administration has already successfully divided the country along social lines and raised tensions to an all time high. The added tensions from the collapse of the economy will cause rioting that the Administration will use to justify declaring martial law and then begin confiscating guns to stop the violence. This will cause more tension and rioting and much more violence. I fear that we are very close to seeing the end of the Greatest country this planet has ever seen. And we are not far from the Powder Blue Goon squads kicking down our doors and taking our guns.

Well Merry Christmas to all. The senate was kind enough to hand the Messiah another great victory early yesterday morning. With the passage of the Senate healthcare control bill the Communists that have hijacked the Democrat party have proven once again that bribes, payoffs, and kick backs are far more important to them than doing the right thing for the people of this country. It is high time that we the real people of this country take back control of our government and kick these bums to the curb before they destroy everything our Founding Fathers created. We do need health care reform in this country, but we do not need a benevelent government dolling out healthcare based on political lines instead of true medical needs. The Government has screwed up Medicare and Medicaid to the point that both are so far in the red they are almost impossible to get right and now they want to do the same for everyone. The two bills that are now going to committee to be combined are both total bullshit. They are front loading the program with a huge amount of cash so they can sit back and pat themselves on the back for doing a great job and yet within a few short years the program will be so far in debt that no one, except the political elite, will have any healthcare. Do I have all the answers to fix the healthcare problems in this country? Nope, but I do know that government take over is not the answer. We need our government to stop trying to run and control our lives and let us take care of ourselves.

I have been using twitter for a few years now. I started using twitter not long after it went public and myself and a few friends have used it to keep in touch ever since. Twitter has become quite popular of late and that has improved the usefulness of the tool. I can get notices of breaking news, traffic congestion, pass conditions, great recipes, and see what is on the television at just about any given time of the day or the night. There are also a lot of people that, like me, use twitter as a forum to vent what ever is on our minds. You can find people with an opinion on any subject on twitter and you will find opinions on all sides of the debate on that subject as well. I like that I can find different views on all subjects, but I am getting tired of the posters that instead of posting useful information and possible alternative actions on the subject, they instead spend all of their time ridiculing and insulting everyone that disagrees with their view of the subject. I know that we all are entitled to have an opinion on any subject, and I have my opinions on most subjects that I am not afraid to share, but I do not believe that it is acceptable to insult those that disagree with me because they disagree. I have had enough of the insults and name calling. Over the next week or so I am going to look closely at what is being posted to twitter. If all someone is posting is insults then they are off my follow list, and anyone that disagrees can remove me from their follow list as well.

Mexican drug Cartell guns

If I hear one more story on the drive by media, or one more anti-American politician say that 90% of the guns used to commit crimes in Mexico is coming from the U.S. MY HEAD WILL FUCKING EXPLODE! This is not only an out and out LIE, the politicians know it is a lie and do not care. They want to ban guns and do not care what it takes to do it. The 90% number comes from the fact that of the guns submitted to the U.S. Government by the Mexican Government for tracing are traced back to a U.S. orgin. The problem is, roughly EIGHTY SEVEN PERCENT of the guns recovered from crime scenes are determined to not be of U.S. origin and are not submitted for tracing. Of the guns submitted for tracing 90% are of U.S. origin yes, they do not say of that 90% how many were legally sent to Mexico. Some of those guns were sold by our government to the Mexican government for military or police use. They are then either stolen from the government agencies they were issued to, or some corrupt member of the Mexican government sold them illegaly to the cartell's. It is a fact that thgere is no evidence at all that gun control laws have any effect on crime. The gun grabbers are not after our guns because they want to control crime. They are after our guns because theyt want to control the law abiding citizens. Criminals do not obey laws and they know that, but they are afraid that law abiding Americans will not allow the Constitution to be thrown out and allow this country to be governed by a foreign government. If we will not allow this the "ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT" can not happen. They want to disarm us just like King George did when he was afraid we would revolt against his rule. These lying bastards all took an oath of office when they were elected to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and these attacks on our Constitution are a direct violation of that oath and they should be removed from office.

Today after work I stopped at Walmart to get some groceries. The clerk that was at the register was visibly shaken when i went to check out. She told me that just before I got to the store three women who were standing in the check out line waiting to check out had their purses stolen from them. The thieves then ran out with the purses. From what information I could gather in the short time I was there it seems that no one tried to stop them or to even get a good description of them for the police. Have we as a society become so self centered that we no longer will step up to help a neighbor in need? I do not know if I would have been able to stop the thieves had I been there at the time of the robbery, but I would have at least tried. As our economy worsens I am sure that more stories like this will begin to come out.

New things happening

Well the last couple of weeks have been amazing. I have had a couple of my recipe's posted on Clique clack food and will have a third one posted tomorrow. i will post a link when it is up. I have found the Talk Hunting web forums and am now a staff writer for the Camp Fire News online magazine for Talk Hunting. My first post there will be in the April edition. Again I will post a link when it is available. and I have a couple of other things in the works that I hope to have enough info on to post soon. I hope to get a chance to go out tomorrow to do some scouting and target shooting. If I get out then I should have some interesting info to post from that. We will see what happens.

I have gotten myself hooked up with the talkhunting.com web site. This site is so awesome. lots of great people talking about hunting and fishing and everything outdoors. I have volunteered to write for the monthly online magazine for the site called The Campfire News, and I have been spending a lot of time reading and posting to the forums. I have been trying to get myself focused on huntingand fishing for a while now and this site is really helping with that. I am looking forward to the summer and fishing more than I have in a long time. I am also writing a weekly recipe for the red neck cooking posts on Clique Clack food. This is also a lot of fun. I get to write real recipes of dishes that I like to cook and I get to make them fun and entertaining. I am enjoying the writing so much I am looking for some outlet for some of my stories now. I may just start posting them here. I am not sure yet.

Well I spent most of the weekend looking over the talkhunting.com forums. I suggest if you are interested in hunting or the outdoors that you check it out. I also was able to get out and shoot my bow some this weekend. I had a lot of fun until the storm blew in. I really like shooting my Parker Buck hunter bow. It is so smooth and easy to draw. The bow is also really accurate. I have about a month until Turkey season starts so I may just be ready to try to take a Turkey with it. More news to come soon.

Hunting website and forums.

I have spent quite a bit of time over the last week exploring and enjoying the Talk Hunting web site and forum's. This site is run by a great bunch of people that are dedicated to the pursuit of wild game. I have not been as focused on hunting over the last 12 years or so as I used to be, and I am now working very hard to get back into hunting. If you like to talk about hunting and the outdoors visit the site and look around I think you will enjoy it as much as I have so far.

B.A.S.S. Master Classic

Today is the final round of the B.A.S.S. Master Classic fishing tournament. The Classic is the premier event on the bass fishing tournament circuit. The Classic is the super bowl, or Daytona 500 of bass fishing. This year marks the first year in the history of the tournament that a woman has competed. The rules for qualifying for the Classic were changed to include the Sportsman of the year from the women' B.A.S.S. tour. Kim Bain-Moore won that honor and therefore qualified for the Classic. I have listened to a number of the men competeing in this year's Classic say that while they look forward to competeing against a woman they do not think that she truly qualified for the tournament and should not be there. My question is, "Why do they think she did not qualify?". She did not set the qualification rules. She did not take the tournament organizers to court. She simply cmplied with the rules set by the governing rules committee and by those rules did qualify for the Classic. I Am glad to see that the B.A.S.S. has finaly included the ladies in the Classic and I am really looking forward to the first woman to win the tournament. Unfortunatly that will not be this year because Kim did not make the final 25 cut for the final day of the tournament. Next year I expect her to give an even better performance.

Great day fishing

Yesterday was a beautiful day. I went fishing on the Snake river for a few hours and had a great time. I didn't catch any fish, but I enjoyed being out on the water and watching he water fowl.
The weather was good, however the wind was a bit cold. Not bad for February in Southwestern Idaho. The only bad part of the day was the fact that someone else had been to the spot I was fishing before me and left a camp fire smoldering and garbage around the camp fire. When you have a camp fire that is just a few feet from the edge of the river there is no reason to not make sure the fire is out before you leave. I put the fire out before I even started fishing. After the fire had cooled I also picked up the garbage and took it with me when I left. I always try to leave any area I am fishing at cleaner than when I arrived. It really pisses me off to have to clean up after some other jackass that is to lazy to clean up after themselves. The public access points along the Snake river are really nice and it makes it a great day for those that use them, however lazy jerks that leave garbage behind are the reason that we have so little access to private land. The owners get tired of their property being left in such a mess. Most owners would not mind people accessing rivers, ponds, or whatever if everyone would just clean up after themselves. Lazy people that leave garbage behind hurt everyone that enjoys the outdoors and give us all a bad name. If you are going to go out and spend time along the river or lake just pack out the garbage you brought with you. Save a few plastic grocery bags to take with you for this and everyone will be much better off.

Project update

Well this week has been a complete bust. I have not taken any pictures all week. The weather here in southwestern Idaho. we have been in an inversion all week and the weather is so dreary. I tried to take a few pictures but they just looked depressing. I have taken enough self portraits inside so I do not want to do any more of those and Bo has gotten to the point of leaving the room when I get out the camera. I am not giving up on my 365 project, but I do have a one week hole in it. I hope that the weather will get better so that I can get out and take some more good pictures soon.

My exercising has also suffered some. I have not been going for walks like I had wanted to because of the dreary foggy weather. I really don't like walking in the dark in the fog on the road. to many people around here do not slow down enough for the foggy conditions and it is to dangerous to walk in those conditions. My weight this morning was 309.6 lbs. My starting weight was 314.4 lbs so I am losing some weight and feeling better already. I will keep working on the exercises and changing my eating habits.

Resolution update

I have started my new years resolutions. I have been taking photos everyday so far. I will post some of them on flickr soon. I am cutting back on the smoking as well. I have also gotten a new bathroom scale to track my weight. It is a pretty good one. The scale is a tracking scale that remembers your last weight and shows you the difference as well. It will track the weight for 2 people also. Starting weight for me was 314.4 pounds. I will post weekly my progress.

New year's resolutions

I am sure that I am no different than everyone else. Each year I try to set some goals for the new year and within a few months of the new year they are forgotten. I am going to try again this year to set some resolutions that I can stick to. Some of them will be fun, and some of them will be difficult, but if I take a little time each day to write about them here and work on them perhaps this year I will stick to them. I have a tracking scale that seems to be fairly accurate and should help with this. I am planning to get into better shape. I am not setting a weight goal to reach because even though all the charts say I should weigh a certain amount I am more interested in being able to do the things I like without hurting or being out of breath all the time. If I can go out and cut a load of fire wood without feeling like my back is breaking I will be happy. I do plan to use the scale to keep me focused on exercise and cutting the junk food and soda pop from my diet. So now to the list of resolutions.
1. Get in better shape.
2. Quit smoking.
3. Get things taken care of here in Idaho and get moved to Washington.
4. Do a 365 photos project. This means to take at least one photo each day.
5. Along with #4 I am doing a 52 photo project. This will mean taking at least one photo each week of the year.
6. Write more. I love to write my stories, but never seem to be able to find the time. I will make time to sit down and write.
7. Read more. I love to read as much as I love to write. I need to make more time to read as well.

So that is it for my list. It should not be to difficult to keep up that list, but We will have to wait and see.

The new year

Well despite my not wanting the new year to arrive so soon, it has. 2008 was not a very good year. The best part of the year was the birth of my Grandson in September. The price I have had to pay for the well being of my Grandson has been high. My wife and I have been separated now for way to long. She moved to Washington to make sure that My daughter had a place to live while she was pregnant and to make sure that my grandson had a roof over his head. She moved over in March and I have had to stay in Idaho. I have made as many trips as I can to Washington to see them, but it is hard staying apart like this. So I am hoping for a better year in 2009. I hope to be reunited with my wife by spring and get our lives together back on track. I have a lot of work to do on the place in Washington and would not want to try to get it done while still living here in Idaho again like I did last spring and summer.
